
Overview
Initially, one of the online learning platforms that we worked for lacked a structured mechanism for regular parent-teacher interactions, leading to a gap in clear communication about student progress. Recognizing the need to enhance transparency and parental engagement, a dedicated Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) feature was strategically introduced. The PTM initiative provided personalized insights into each student’s performance, significantly boosting parental confidence and driving an increase in renewal rates. The PTM also addressed any concerns regarding student learning for the parents.
Objective:To establish a systematic and personalized communication channel that regularly informs parents about their child’s academic performance, fostering increased trust, satisfaction, and higher renewal rates.
PTM however had to be done for both individual Session (1:1) and Group Sessions (1:4/1:N). In order to ensure that student learning is not affected, we took the below approach during implementation
- Individual Sessions (1:1): Parent Teacher Meetings were seamlessly integrated within the existing individual class sessions. Following the generation of a personalized report card, teachers dedicated a portion of regular class time to deliver comprehensive performance feedback directly to parents. This approach maximized convenience and leveraged existing schedules. There were no changes in the existing schedule of the student.
- Group Sessions (1:4 /1:N): For group sessions, an additional dedicated PTM session was introduced into the curriculum timetable. These sessions that were called Spotlight sessions were specially designed to last 30 minutes, featuring structured interactions including celebration of student milestones, a detailed discussion on individual student progress, and previewing upcoming learning modules. This dedicated session ensured personalized attention for each parent, reinforcing their engagement without disrupting regular curriculum flow. The PTM session was conducted on the exact regular timetable and the entire schedule for the students rewritten to accommodate this session.
Post Session
Post the session the teacher would fill in a form that would be sent to the parents for getting feedback for the Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) Session. In case the parent missed out on the PTM session, a reminder would be sent out to them to attend the next PTM Session.
